Wedding feature - GMTV

Siobhàn at the GMTV studios during the 2003 interactive wedding feature

'Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life and something that most of us dream about for a very long time. The run up to it is an exciting and highly emotional time and one to be cherished. However, this is easier said than done. It can also be a time of family fall-outs, clashes of taste, endless frustrating telephone calls, headaches and decisions. As a wedding co-ordinator I can eliminate the unpleasant aspects, eradicate the headaches and make the preparation, as it should be, a fun and exciting time.

A vital aspect of my business is to ensure that the couple do not feel left out of their own wedding. They still make the ultimate decisions and choices and I steer them in the right direction. I cut out their running and telephoning around and, with my significant knowledge of the wedding industry, can take the couple straight to the suppliers best placed to satisfy their requirements.

The couple may not even have begun to enquire on the various services that they will require. Have they seen the variety? How do they know that one is any better than another? How much should they be paying for any particular service? How many telephone calls and appointments will it take? Do they really have the time and patience to embark on this very important research?

Wedding planner and co-ordinator service from Siobhan Craven-RobinsMy one stop wedding service is ideal as I can take care of all your wedding requirements. My team of experts are all carefully sourced and so you are guaranteed the highest quality service from exceptionally professional people and companies as well as benefiting from my own personal attention to every detail of your wedding.

Many of my clients are based overseas and wish to marry in the UK. Planning a wedding long-distance is a daunting task without the assistance and market awareness of a professional. Former clients range from as far a field as Russia, Japan and the USA.

Whatever your circumstance and dream wedding - together we create your perfect day without you suffering the headache and hassle.... and you still have time to continue your day to day lifestyle.'

Wedding Do's and Don'ts
Don't assume that because the venue is available on a certain date that your church or registrar will be. Check out the availability of BOTH before confirming a booking.
Do ask the advice of friends or relatives who have recently married. They will be able to give you reliable recommendations and steer you away from any disasters!
Do set a budget. It is so easy to overspend and as most payments are due 14 days before the wedding, you do not want to find yourselves with bills you cannot pay.
Don't feel pressured into booking any particular supplier because they offer a discount for booking there and then. Any professional wedding supplier will realise that you want to shop around for anything to do with the most important day of your life.
Do allow lots of time if planning your own wedding. It does take time and you do not want to find it a fraught process, you must enjoy the planning as much as the day itself.
Don't feel pressured to comply to all your family's requests. You can't please all the people all the time and it is your day.
Do sit down with your family when commencing the planning to see if anyone has any strong feelings about any aspect of your wedding. It is better to iron out any hiccups and clashes of ideas at the outset than fall out 2 weeks before the big day.
Don't rely on it being a fine day. Make a contingency plan for photos and drinks reception in case the gardens are out of bounds due to torrential rain.
Do check if your suppliers charge VAT or service. An extra 17.5% or 10% on any of your bills makes quite a difference to your budget.
Don't assume that your venue cost is all-inclusive, some charge for hire of linen, licence extension and extra tea and coffee if requested! Ensure you have received a realistic costing from them before you confirm.
